Diamond and CBN tools

When the material to be machined is hardened or very tough, the use of diamond tools becomes necessary. These tools are available in various shapes and designs. Diamond tools have diamond grains embedded in a bonding material, which can be either resin or metal. These so-called CBN tools (Cubic Boron Nitride) can be applied across a wide range of applications.

The most commonly used diamond tool is the steel shank with diamond grains applied through a galvanic process. The grain size is specified according to the FEPA standard, which measures the grain size in microns. The designation D126 is a common choice, corresponding to a grain size of approximately 100 µ.

Diamond files

In addition to rotary diamond-tipped burs, we offer a wide range of diamond files. The working principle of a diamond file is very similar to that of a diamond grinding bur. The grain size is also expressed in microns according to the FEPA standard.

Diamond files offer excellent opportunities for fine finishing of more challenging materials. Besides hardened steels, ceramics and glass can also be processed. This is not intended for removing large amounts of material, but in combination with Diprofil filing machines, it is possible to remove slightly more material.

The wide variety of shapes and types makes it essential to carefully select the right diamond file. We are, of course, happy to assist you in making the correct choice.
