Milling tools

Kurval offers a range of high-quality hand milling tools. These cutters are widely used, from tuning combustion engines for racing to finishing and deburring aircraft components.

While high-speed steel (HSS) was often used for milling in the past, this is now almost exclusively done with carbide (carbide). Carbide is a highly wear-resistant material obtained by sintering (a type of fusing) grains. The grain size is important for the quality of the carbide, and therefore also for the quality of the cutters. Unfortunately, there are many cutters for sale of poor quality. The micrograin from which our cutters are made guarantees a long tool life and minimal chipping of the cutting edges.

The small cutters often have an HSS shank and a carbide head. The shank therefore has a higher strength than carbide. The head is brazed to the shank at high temperatures. This not only allows the shank to withstand much higher loads, but also increases the strength of the shank. An additional advantage is the savings on carbide, which is naturally a more expensive material than HSS.

We can supply milling cutters with a wide variety of shapes and cutting edge designs. The materials being machined often require a special tooth shape or a chip breaker. If you require a custom shape, please feel free to ask us about the possibilities.
