Special and hardened materials often require a higher-quality polishing agent than aluminum oxide and silicon carbide grit when polished. Diamond pastes, diamond gels, and diamond fluids offer the possibility of finely grinding down to carbide. A diamond paste, diamond gel, or diamond fluid can contain either natural or synthetic diamonds, or even both. The choice of composition is determined by both the material to be polished and the working method. The support used for the diamond is particularly important.
