Kurval offers a wide range of band heaters, divided into seven types:

BDS, BDK, RHK, and RHKS Mica Band Heaters

Mica band heaters are widely used for contact heating in industrial applications. Due to their excellent heat distribution and transfer, these elements can be applied in many areas. The mica band heaters are custom-manufactured in Germany or the USA.

Ceramic Band Heaters (HRHK)
Ceramic band heaters are designed with a spiral-wound internal resistance wire. The ceramic core is enclosed in a stainless steel sheath with serrated edges. The combination of materials in a ceramic heater provides a flexible heating system suitable for conductive or radiant heat applications. A wide range of customized solutions is available.

Thinband Heaters

Thinband heaters are a redesign of the standard mica band heater. Thinbands offer significantly greater flexibility because they can be opened along the full length of the band without damaging the internal structure. Thinband heaters feature a one-piece design with narrow, inward-rolled edges. The heater thickness is only 4 mm (0.156”). Due to their flexibility, these heaters can be mounted on existing piping systems, even when flanges or other obstructions are present.

MI Band Heaters

Watlow’s MI band heaters deliver very high performance in terms of temperature and power per cm². Maximum operating temperature is approximately 750°C. The heater is named after Watlow’s proprietary mineral insulation material, which has significantly higher thermal conductivity than mica and hard ceramic insulators used in conventional heaters. A thin layer of this material provides electrical insulation for the resistance wire relative to the inner sheath, while a thicker layer directs heat toward the heater interior. The result is more efficient heat transfer, lower resistance wire temperature, and longer service life.
