Kurval supplies strip and plate heaters in various configurations. Strip and plate heaters can be applied in vulcanizing presses, molds and dies, hotplates, thermoforming equipment, packaging machinery, tin melting, blow molding equipment, testing equipment, ovens, incubators, boilers, and furnaces.
Mica strip and plate heaters are highly versatile. Typical guidelines include a maximum operating temperature of 300°C and a maximum watt density of 3.5 W/cm². All mica strip elements are custom-manufactured in Germany or the USA; there is no standard program.
Mica plate elements consist of a mica carrier and mica insulation sheets. Their low mass enables very fast response times. Dimensions, cutouts, and shapes can be fully customized.
Ceramic plate elements provide highly efficient heat transfer via radiation, conduction, and convection. Unlike other strip elements, a perfect fit is not required. Heat transfer in ceramic strip and plate heaters is not affected by irregular surfaces or slightly loose installation. The outer surface of the heater remains significantly cooler than other elements. All ceramic heaters are built to customer specifications.
Channel strip heaters are available up to 6,096 mm in length. Their seamless design makes them ideal for applications in milled grooves.
Channel strips feature a stainless steel rectangular sheath measuring 1-1/2” × 5/16” (approx. 38 × 8 mm). The internal construction consists of wound nickel-chromium resistance wire, fixed to screw terminals or heat-resistant lead wires.
Channel strip heaters are available with various mounting and connection options. Integrated thermocouples are also available. Maximum sheath temperature is 650°C.
Watlow’s robust 375 strip heater is named after its thickness of 0.375” (9.5 mm). It combines high watt densities with high operating temperatures. Available in aluminized steel or 430 stainless steel sheaths.
Performance and Certifications:
Sheath temperature with aluminized steel: up to 595°C
Sheath temperature with 430 stainless steel: up to 650°C
UL® recognized up to 240 VAC (File E52951)
CSA recognized up to 600 VAC (File LR7392)
MI strip heaters are extremely fast-responding due to their low thickness. With a maximum operating temperature of 760°C, they are ideal for many applications.
Available widths: 1”, 1-1/2”, 2”
Maximum length: 30” (762 mm)
Most MI plate elements are custom-built. A small standard program is available. Custom-built heaters have a minimum order quantity depending on size. Most MI strip and plate elements are UL® recognized up to 240 VAC (File E52951).
