Constructed from high-quality materials and tight tolerances, the cartridge heater offers superior heat transfer, uniform temperatures and a long service life, even at high temperatures. Rod element heaters provide solid industrial performance across a wide range of simple and complex applications.
Cartridge heaters are robust and easy to install. They usually consist of a cylindrical stainless steel tube and offer high corrosion prevention. Inside is a resistance wire wound around a ceramic core. The number of coils varies depending on the power rating.
Firerods
Firerods are available in diameters ranging from 1/8‘ to 3/4’ and lengths ranging from 1‘ to 100’. The maximum element temperature is 760°C. The elements can be designed with a maximum watt density of 62W/cm². The maximum voltage is 480V.
The extensive lead adapter (LA) modification programme offers more than 150,000 different configurations. The specially designed cap welded onto the element makes it easy to convert standard versions into forged versions. Angled versions, with or without protective sleeves or hoses, can also be ready within a few days, as can versions with screw-in nipples, flanges and other accessories.
Custom-built Firerods can be delivered within 2 to 3 weeks. Please enquire about current lead times with our office staff.
Metric Firerods
Just like its counterpart, the Firerod, the metric Firerod outperforms other cartridge heaters. The materials and production methods used guarantee the best performance and longest service life for your product.
Available variants
The maximum element temperature of the metric Firerods is 760°C and the watt density is a maximum of 50W/cm². The heaters are available in diameters of 6.5 mm, 8 mm, 10 mm, 12.5 mm, 16 mm and 20 mm. The standard sheath material for all Firerods and metric Firerods is Alloy 800, but the heaters are also available in stainless steel 316 and stainless steel 304.
The metric Firerods are available with braided – directly flexible – wiring (with or without mechanical shielding), angled wiring (with or without mechanical shielding), Teflon connection wire and Teflon seal, silicone-insulated wiring and silicone seal, and integrated thermocouples (type J or type K) at three different locations in the heater. The heaters can also be fitted with mounting flanges and M4 threaded connections (depending on the chosen diameter of the element).
Tolerances
• Diameter: -0.02 mm, -0.08 mm
• Length: approx. 2% with a minimum of approx. 2.4 mm
• Power: +10%, -5%
• Resistance: +5%, -10%
